Multilingual Story Time
Elephants in the Room’s Multilingual Story Time invites children and families to enjoy stories in community languages alongside English, celebrating the rich linguistic diversity in our communities. These sessions support children’s early language development, cultural identity and confidence in a welcoming, playful library space.
Research shows that children who grow up using more than one language often develop stronger literacy, problem‑solving skills and a deeper sense of belonging as they connect with their heritage and community through language and stories. Exposure to multiple languages has been linked with improved cognitive flexibility and communication skills, helping children see the world from many perspectives.
